This is winter wheat, which needs to go thru the winter dormantcy as part of it's growing cylcle. If there was no freezin' cycle, it wouldn't even produce. :>)

It mainly works on it's root system in the fall, goes dormant, then when the ground temp hits around 40 degrees next spring, it greens back up and goes to making seed.
