Back in the early 80's when I was trucking in Nebraska the guys around Burwell and Ord were still pretty big on putting alfalfa in stacks with their hay bucks on loaders. I hadn't seen that since the 60's but I didn't see hardly any round bales there, just loose stacks with the 3 cuttings in the same stack.

If you rebuild the motor, you could use hardened seats and valves, and unleaded fuel. But if your old tractor runs good, a simple lead substitute added to the gas is a perfectly reasonable solution.
