I would agree with you that some guys do use the Jake more than is necessary, upshifting etc.... but I find there are times when it is absolutely necessary to kill the engine with the Jake to catch a gear. I find that with a couple gears in low range when starting up a hill. That might depend more on what tranny you're using... but I know that with the 13 I have, I do jake upshifting on 2nd and 3rd in low range. Luckily, I'm out in the sticks, and nobody really cares too much anyway. Rod
