Long 445DT-SD - need parts

Hello, I am normally on the Ford N forum, but am trying to help out a neighbor with his Long 445 DT-SD.
The shuttle shifter shaft has broken and I am looking for another good used or new if available. After reviewing the archives, it is evident that the parentage of these UTB's is uncertain (Fiat, Romania, Canada, HUH?) Anyone with a 445 that has found the domestic make with parts that interchange? Like Oliver or Allis? thanks,
