6 volt or 12 volt? What are you using to jump it? Like SouNdguy said it sounds like your battery needs replaced and the generater polarized. About 3 years ago I had similar problems. The engine would take a long time to start and then it would run fine for awhile, spit and sputter for awhile. I figured it was fuel since the tractor sits most of the time. After I'd cleaned everything and replaced all the filters in the gas tank, gas line, and carb and it was still doing it, I started checking electrical. After a lot of cursing I found a wire had broke inside the insulation. The insulation wasn't broken or cracked, but vibration had broken the copper. The same vibration would make or break the connection. A new FNH wiring harness and voltage regulator and now it runs great. Wiring a Jub isn't hard. Get a harness from Ford New Holland (or whatever they're calling themselves this month) and take it one wire at a time. Remember: Clean, Bright, and Tight
