OK, this is dumb but I did all the things correctly suggested in the other posts, cranking fast until my batteries wore out. After recharging I again cranked awhile but only got the lines to 1-2 cyclinders (of six) to spurt a little fuel. Thought a lot about what could be wrong with the pump or the lines, or the filters, or the tank, etc. Then I looked up absent mindedly at the the accelerator lever on the steering wheel and noticed I had left it toward the "off" position weeks before. Duh. Sure pumped a lot of fuel through those lines quickly when I opened it wide up.
