A long ways north of you I will be plamting winter wheat tomorrow. I find it interesting that with all that distance between us that seeding dates would be the same. Ours will be harvested (on average) about Aug. 10. we seed 120 lb/acre and only directly into standing stubble (we need the snow trapping to insure winter survival). It is incredibly dry here and mothing will come up till it rains (which hasn't happened in a long time). It is red winter wheat we grow, and when you get the right mix of weather and lots of nitrogen it yields very well.
