I think something like a Ford N-series (9N, 2N, 8N) would be good. They are not bringing that much anymore an are pretty plentiful. You may be able to find a decent one for a grand. I'd stay away from that old of a Deere. Most likely going to need a lot of work, and the lack of a 3-point hitch would make itnot so user freindly.
