Doug, You got excellent answers below from Bob and John on this. Since you didn't say which kind of FM mag or model it could also be the wrong coil in the mag. For some reason FM made some coils for the J & X mags with less windings inside on those orange epoxy coils for 1 cyld. mags only and those coils won't stand up or put out enough fire in a 4 or 6 cyld. mag. There are good aftermarket coils available for less cost for the FM J & X models but not for the other older models. Email if you have questions on the aftermarket coils.
