as part of annual inspection around here, 96 and newer requires car to pass DMV smog test = no codes in computer my son's 96 Taurus started getting codes, driving to the repair shop to get codes read was a pain so for my birthday I got $100 code scanner from uncle wally, no magic answers but it tells you where to start if you plan to do your own work you might find one very handy, as always you get what you pay for now everyody wants to borrow it
