I simply say...There is no reason a trailer w/ 12K axles w/ brakes hooked to a the tow vehiele, like Allans shouldn't be able to preforn this job, if Allan or anyone else with good driveing skills wanted to do this.
It would be well within the pickup and trailers capability.
No one can predict idiots on the roadway, or equipment failure, so one has to be doubly causious. Do not drive like an Drunk Indian and see how fast the truck will pull the load, Yes avoid major citys, rush hour traffic and the like.
We all have to work with in the frame work of our capabilities, and equipment.
Back to Allans ? He asked if we thought it would make this trip and it has been an overwhelming NO.
I simply added my thoughts that his HD Ford with the right triler would do the job.
This country was built on the back of the 1/2 ton pickup. At least now that truck for the most part has been relegated to town folks. Most of us have in our repitau a 3/4 4x4 to work out of now.
It is Allans opition to do what I or any one else sujected or Not! He might pick up the phone and get some guy with a W900 Kenworth, with a 450 Cat under the hood and a single stick 18 speed, on 3:70 Rockwells w/ a 50 ft lowboy trailer behind it to haul this tractor home at the $3.00/mile going rate.
I have been around enough farmers/ranchers/hotshoters and hauled enough to know what is possible or not. I, and just stateing my thoughts and opinions on this topic that is all.
