The major factor about fuel with regard to fuel economy is the lower heating value(LHV) of the fuel. That's a measure of it's energy content per gallon (BTU's /gallon) and is controlled by specification. To my knowledge this has not changed with any of the low sulfur fuels nor will it change with Ultra low sulfur.Wear in the injectors is another issue. Much has been made about lubricity changes due to the process of manufacturing low sulfur fuels and as I understand it this has been dealt with by additive packages in the fuel.
