You only run the engine backwards on the first two model Bulldogs to drive backwards. If you run the engine backwads on any other models, the oil in the crankcase does not get pumped back into the oil tank and it will eventually run out of oil or it might run on the oil in the crankcase and you can't stop it. To ran the engine backwards for a short time (to blow dust out of the radiators) does not hurt.
