I think it could work.....after you get them hooked the way you said slowly pull them straight ahead and then extream left and back, then right.....
I am thinking maybe you could mount a 2" hitch ball on the tail of each rake.....take a straight ahead measurement across between the two balls......weld or bolt a hitch coupler on a piece of 2" heavy wall pipe.....if they pull and swing togeather this will stabilise the tail ends.... length from hitch pin to wheel spindle may have to be the same on both rakes.....give it some though.....Don L C
