I can tell you this much, our 05 Arctic Cat 500 feels slower than the 89 Yamaha 250, but side by side the Cat blows that Yamaha away every time, from every starting speed. Neighbor has a 700 twin Polaris with EFI and it will get you into trouble pretty darn fast! Also just read a review on the new Suzuki 700 class with a single cylinder EFI and they said it will lift the front wheels quite easily. I think my brother went with the 500 Cat because it is liquid cooled instead of air cooled. The 250 is plenty for me, though.
