pto problems

Hi, I have a JD 1010 gas model, that I puchased last fall. When I put a bush hog attachment on the tractor this spring, I was unable to use it as the pto would cut the engine off whenever fuel was applied. Also, there is a lot of leakage coming from the area where the pto arm enters the tractor. Does anyone have any ideas as what may be the problem? I would really appreciate any input on this issue. Thanks!
