If diesel is getting mixed in your gas it all won't combust during combustion and you will see smoking and find the oil level going up as the unburnt diesel goes past the rings into the oil.

Depends on what percentages of ethanol or methanol in your fuel but alcohols in high percentages will shrink carb gaskets, swell or deteriorate rubber parts and melt plastic parts like plastic floats ruining your carburetor. That is why they have made all brass floats and special brass and stainless parts in aircraft and racing carburetors for years.
