Dave, thats one of those type things thats often based more so on local practice n custom then any general state statute (In Pro Judge Indiana its the Judges Court and how he decides or rules is pretty much it lol). HOWEVER if there is a state statute thats the best place to start from and follow to the letter what it says regarding times and form of notice like written or verbal etc. As an attorney I agree with the advice below to first give him the courtesy of face to face verbal notice (keep a diary/ledger of the time n place and particulars and any witnesses, a non biased witness is better) followed up with a letter mailed in the US Postal Mail with either Proof of Mailing or even Green Card Return Receipt cuz it serves as good admissible evidence for any factual dispute John T Country Lawyer
