If it"s thhe 3 screw type, you"ve just got to play with it to get the bubble centered.
If it"s the 4 screw, it depends on what you adjusted.
Did you adjust the vial with an adjusting pin or screwdriver, on the scope, or just the leveling thumb screws on the base? If you adjusted the vial, you will have problems.
If it has 4 thumbscrews, turn the scope directly over one pair of adjusting screws and adjust until the bubble is level. Now turn it 1/4 turn over the other screws and level the bubble. Now turn it 180 degrees and see if your bubble is still centered. check it a couple times in all 4 directions over each set of screws. if the bubble remains centered, your all set. If you can"t keep it centered the vial needs adjustment. You do it the same way except you adjust the vial, only 1/2 way then readjust the leveling screw, then turn it 180 degrees and it should be close. You may have to do it several times to get it dead nuts.
Don"t shoot a benchmark with it not being leveled though, because as soon as you swing it WILL be out and your grade will be wrong. If you can"t get it in, you can always use the old garden hose trick with a short piece of clear hose on one end.
