It can vary from state to state. Ask your local tote the note car dealer, they will know. Or go to the tax office and ask, they will probably even include the forms needed. It will cost you some money, and plenty of time while they research the history of the vehicle. If you have any suspicions something may be fishy in the deal (your buying a car with no title etc.), I wouldn't waste the time and money. If you know the history of the vehicle and feel confident they will re-issue a new title then go for it. Good Luck!
