Leyland hydraulic system question

I had to borrow a friend's tractor and can't figure out how the external hydraulics operate. It's a Leyland 384. Nothing happens when the lever on the lt is positioned in PTO or hydraulics or the other setting which I can't remember the name of right now. Anybody out there that can steer me in the right direction? Thanks!
