I've been using my waste oil for years in all my diesels with no problems. I have twin 300 gallon tanks and my pump has its own filter. Only down side is - the fuel turns black pretty fast. I had a new load of clean diesel - over 500 gallons - and it got a black color from just dumping three gallons of waste oil into it. In regard to the worries about particles in waste oil ?? Maybe, but I've no problems. The waste oil has been filtered in the engine it came out of. It then runs through my pump filters, and then - again -runs through whatever filters the tractor or truck has where it's being used. Seems three stages of filtering ought to do the trick.
