I have an old strainer and new filter discs. I use it for all manner of recycle-ing around my shop. I re-claim/re-use gasoline, diesel fuel, oils, solvents, antifreeze, what-ever. Real handy. I bought a case of filters many years ago when a farm store sold out. For many jobs, I use 2 or 3 discs in the strainer to do a good job.
A separate strainer is used for food products.
Back in the "50"s, some girls would fold and sew/tie the filter discs together to make fancy doll dresses.
