John Deere L's were used by our County Highway Dept for roadside cutting when I was a little kid. That's the only place I ever saw them being used for anything. Sidemounted sicklebar mowers and they went along to beat the band. Too small to be used for the kind of farming we did although I told my dad we should get one just to cut the hay. He just laughed.
