I've got one that likely will be replaced in another year or so. Doctor told me that when I got tired of gritting my teeth, he'd put a joint in it. Also told me to wait as long as I could without sacrificing mobility, because the longer I waited, the better joint I'd probably get. I'm 62, and both of my parents had both knees replaced due to arthritis. Mom didn't do a very good job of taking the physical therapy seriously, and I don't think she ever had as good a set of knees as she should have. Dad was almost 69 when he had his done, one in May, one in August. He took the therapy VERY seriously. By October he was climbing all over the grain bins and playing touch football with his grandsons. He also went roller skating again, and the doc told him to quit that foolishness, as he didn't have a clue how much harder it is to put a second joint in! He farmed full-time until he was 76, lived until age 89, and never regretted doing it.
