What I don't understand is why you are even attemping to do this. If you have plenty of poles, as you say use the round poles. They are going to be straighter than you'll be able to finish them and they will be more than twice as strong. There is a reason that the power company doesn't split their poles. Or you can get the device Old has suggested from Northern Tool and have a job your not happy with and on top of it a weak structure. Of course it will match the section your adding on to.....Good luck however you go.
