I'm not sure if the later ones are different but when the pump in my 89' f-150 4x4 screwed up, I dropped the tank. Closer inspection of the tank revealed it was also junk, so I replaced it all and did not put the skid plate back on which held all the crap and moisture and rotted the tank. Rather chance rupturing the tank and knowing it right away, than have it start leaking and catch fire when i'm not expecting it.
