My wife and I have lived in a log home for the past 13 years and I wouldn't do anything else. Like tractors, so much depends on how it was made and how it was maintained over the years. The amount of maintainence depends on how it was constructed. I would suggest you pick up a copy of Log Home Living magazine and start reading through a few copies, your head will spin, but you will have an idea of what your looking at and why some are so much more expensive than others. Good luck with your search, you have to live in one for awhile to appreciate what everyone else misses out on..
