We in SD always used bundle carriers on the McCormick binders to keep the bundles together in bunches to shock them. The heat wave is in the news now and it always seemed to be 100 degrees in those days while shocking the oats.Later we also used the binder to windrow the grain like one fellow said. Then combined it with a Massey 26 combine. WOW what a change that was. It had electric header lift and sheave variable speed and no cab. OOOOO--WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
