In some states it can be a very big fine for killing them here in Missouri theres one breed of them that if you hurt one in any way it can cost you $10,000. Your conservatuion dept should have people that will come in and remove them for you. Bats are good to have around but only if they are in the right place at the right time. Anohter way to get them out and keep them out if for a few days keep the heat up to say 100 or so in your shop, bats like to sleep where its cool and will move out. I have a couple caves on my place so bat never cause me problem they just use the cave
