I've never heard of round bales catching fire from internal heat. It's
known that hay put up too wet can heat enough to start burning.
I've never seen it happen though. I figured it was more likely in the
days hay was put in the barn loose.
There was a picture last weekend in the Syracuse paper of a
flooded farm near Binghamton. His round bales floated down the
Susquehana river.
