I was going to say a similar thing. 18 or 24 inch chicken wire would be easy, rolled out flat on the ground inside of the fence, wired to the fence every few feet to keep it in place, buried a little under dirt or pine straw or whatever's about. They hate getting their toes in it.
That said, when I had a Lab/gopher-cross one dog ago and only a hundred feet of fence I dug out a few inches inside the fence and poured quikcrete in the trench. Dogs usually don't figure out that if they drop back a foot or two they could still dig out; they want to dig right at the base of the fence.
