Letting a newbie loose with the MF 35

My cottager friend from Pennsylvania has been bugging me to let him have some seat time on the MF35, so I put him to work today mowing around walnut seedlings. They are planted on a 20-foot grid in two small fields for a total area of about eight acres.

I gave him the usual warnings, warned him about overhanging limbs, made sure he knew how to shut the machine off in an emergency, and let him feel his way with the tractor. No stranger to a riding lawn mower, he quickly adapted to the machine and the grid, even figuring out the diverter switch to raise the bucket for a better view of the saplings.

He mowed all morning and half the afternoon and seemed to love it. Then he drove away in his Mercedes wagon, planning to come back to do more.

I think I might be on to something here.
