mine has tension springs all around the slip clutch. just like the bailer. I'm sure its not the "right" thing to do,,, but if it worked before with it weled.... guess i would try rewelding it back up, get your cutting done, then make a trip to your local NH dealer. I was very surprised as to just how many parts are still available for a 461.
just my thoughts.
