Allis Chalmers 170 Question

I have an Allis Chalmers 170 with three point. My question is about a valve on the back of the valve assembly on the hydraulic system. On the back of the assembly there is a valve, it is a shut off valve on the 3 pt. lift valve body. I am not sure exactly what it does? The manual I have does not say anything about it or what it does. If anybody could help me out with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
