General Wiring Question with a Flasher Unit

here we go. Wanting to wire a set of flashing lights onto a 6V system. The wire is hot before going onto the flasher, where it's marked P. But there's nothing when I connect the light a "L" This is the second flashur unit to rule out a faulty one, and the light works when I remove the flasher unit from the circuit. It is a 6v flasher, and I'v run out of ideas what to do. Thanks. Paul
