Apart from not actually starting, the injection equipment is steadily sqirting unburned diesel into your engine. While gas oil may have some lubricating properties it is nowhere near as good as oil lubricants. So it can not be good, washing away the lubrication from the bores etc.
It is well known that the highest engine wear rate takes place after cold starts and before the lubrication system is up to full efficiency and the engine is warmed.
