I posted this as a followup to my original message but I fear it got buried in the deluge of new messages. So here is my followup posted as a new message. Thanks to all, Bill, Woodbeef, Roger, DP, Rick, & Paul for the very useful advice. My experience with cold starting diesel engines in the past leads me to lien towards gas for this tractor. The only local dealer is JD so I'm glad the 2555 was a recommendation. I am concerned that the relative stance of the tractor be low and wide to deal safely with my wooded and hilly terrain. Would the JD 2555 be considered as such? Or would one of the other similarly hi compression machines mentioned be considered as a trade off in lite of a low/wide stance? The stance aspect is really the only requirement of mine that hasn't been discussed yet. Any further thoughts along this line would really round out the information already posted, which has been received here with great appreciation. Edit: I just found out about a Belarus dealer in my area. Are these worth considering?
Thanks Clarence
