PHOTO - Fordson Country Four Drive tractor

Hi Guys;
Now for something different! Behind the wheels & the tin work lerks an early 1950's Fordson E1ADDN Major skid unit.
County Commercial from Hampshire in southern England had been build crawlers based on Fordsons since the early 1920's. When the Major was released, they built a crawler version. Someone wanted an equel wheeled tractor for forestry work, so this Four Drive was conceived.
Its basically the crawler tractor with chain drive (enclosed in steel guards) taken off each rear half shaft. Steering is by the normal crawler style foot brakes & hand clutches.
They were not a roaring run-a-way success, very few have survived. A VERY rare machine. The next few posts will feature Fordson tractors & the 4wd variations made by County & Roadless. Many of which were exported to the States. I trust you red men & green men will enjoy them, as I enjoy seeing your different tractors.

Product Review: Black Tire Paint - by Staff. I have been fortunate in that two of my tractors have had rear tires that were in great shape when I bought the tractor.
