I remember the first time I hit the fields with a 9N and it wasn"t 50 feet till I seen I wasn"t ready. I didn"t even know about chains to hang the front of the mower on....but as they say...necessity is the mother of invention. I needed a fix and was a considerable distance from home. I rummaged around in the toolbox and found a piece of square tubing about 2 1/2 feet long and I put it under the rocker shafts and the center rested on the casting behind the seat. It was a good temporary fix...cause I mowed the whole field with that setup...fact of the matter is, I could have wired the tubing to the rockers and it wouldn"t have to be repositioned everytime I raised the mower up.This would get you by till you get a chance to get (or make) the chain setup described in the other post. I Suppose a piece of round pipe or heavy hardwood might also work...just experiment till you get it. Seems like I remember my tubing as 1 1/2 inch. Your Rube Goldburg knowledge might vary.
