It's not any fun for sure Marv and cost too much to buy them back till market goes back down. I guess none of that rain in Houston and Louisianna went your way ? Been dry here 6-7 years now and had to sell all our cows 3 years ago so I feel for you. About all you can do is pencil out the feed cost of keeping them or sell some or all while price is higher and hope to buy back later. Last year was wet here but back to dryer than before now and many here are doing the same thing selling several off. They extended the emergency hay & grazing on CRP but don't know what good that does with dry non palitable grasses and they still have to supplement feed them. We got to worry now about who has cattle on CRP and where during grass fires now too. There are other supplements you can find besides cubes and high $$ hay. Cotton burrs, junk grinder hay and distillers grain products to mix for your own supplement ration but it cost to haul those too. Good luck and prayers for more rain for all of us in need of it.
