I have talked to many people who have run their TA in low range 85% of the time with no problems whatsoever. I argued with my employer when he told me to till all day with his 504 in 1st with TA in low range - he educated me to the following:

Operator error resulting in TA damage is from the following:
1. Shifting it too slow/slipping the TA clutch. (no brainer - this destroys the clutch)
2. Freewheeling while going forward and in gear with TA in low range. (This wears out the ramp/roller system)
3. Rolling backwards while in a forward gear and vice versa. (this wears out the ramp/roller system)

The throwout bearing is just that, a bearing. The bearings in every other part of the tractor run all the time, so the TA throwout bearing can run as well. I personally have never had a clutch problem resulting from a bad throwout bearing (I have had worn fingers from no free pedal though - totally avoidable with proper adjustment).
