Kubota - engine knock

I let my Kubota L1500(2 cyl. diesel) idle while sharpening the finish mower blades (Maybe 15-20 minutes). As I was finishing up, the engine started knocking. I shut it down for 5-10 minutes, then cranked it and thought I still heard some knock but not like it had originally done. I killed it again then decided I would at least put it in the shed. I used the finish mower probably 30 minutes and it did not knock. Later today I used it 20-30 minutes and it has not knocked since..Any thoughts? Thanks
