I watched some guys try to pull a pickup out of the sand at the beach one year. The tide had come up overnight and the wheels just sank in the wet sand down to the frame. A 4X4 tried to pullit out, chain broke and took out both rear windshields of the two vehicles.
I took them my shovel, told them to dig it out, it would drive out. Sure enough, after about an hour of digging sand they just drove it out. Even little kids know "Never go to the beach without a shovel" :^)
