Ya know I've heard a few friends that work in your line of work and they say the same thing.

In my opinion, a lot of these new cancers and diseases for our pets come from just plain modern life. A dog walks through a lot of stuff on the ground now days. If you take your pet with you and they have to walk on asphalt or cement sidewalks and stuff where cars drive and park, then they lick their feet for grooming and consume whatever was on their little feet.

I was visiting with a lady that has a couple parrots and other birds as her pets. Me being a farmer, asked her what sort of seeds are best for the birds diet. She told me just a diet of unprosessed seeds is what kills these birds of liver problems. They need a balanced diet much closer to a humans diet. I'd have never guessed that. I learned a lot that day.
