We've tried just about everything in our cabinet from regular blasting sand to glass beads to ground cullet. The best stuff we've found and what we've been using for nearly 6 years is Black Beauty. It's course and has alot of sharp edges per piece so it cuts quick, still it doesn't leave the finish of the piece too rough to deal with.
