Ken, for that to happen it may well be EITHER:

A) BOTH that the auto fuel shutoff sediment bowl assembly failed to shut the gas off as it should PLUS the carbs float n needle valve n seat assembly is bad (not shutting gas off at proper bowl lever before it floods over), OR

B) The auto shut off sediment bowl assembly has a leaky diaphram allowing gas from the tank to get into the oil via the oil lines that run to that assembly.

Since A has to have 2 things to BOTH go bad, its my best guess its B that the auto shut off has a leaky diaphram, its a fairly common problem and not to expensive or hard to repair. Mother Deere has the diaphram rebuild kits.

If you remove the lil oil lines there at the TEE on the assembly and gas runs out, thats the problem cuz theres only supposed to be oil there unless the rubber diaphram is leaking.

When I rebuild mine I get the 2 new rubber diaphrams plus I replace the lil washer/o ring on top the lil vertical shut off plunger.
