The differences are in the distance between the pins on the implement, the actual size of that pin, and the weight of the implement. It is done that way so that someone won't attempt to hitch a category 0 garden tractor to an implement designed to be pulled by a category 2 or 3 farm tractor. It also prevents you from hitching the big tractor to the small implement and destroying the implement
