I replaced the cracked gas engine in my 64 4020 with another gas engine(341 CI) out of a 105 combine. I used the combine oil pan, just added a 90 street elbow to get the oil to drain down. The combine spin on oil filter is a nice feature. I had to add intake and exhaust manifold from the tractor engine, plus crank pulley to get the hyd pump drive, and water pump and governor housing to get the right throttle linkage. I bought the like new running 2500 hr engine for $400 off a rusted out 105 combine. With a combine diesel, you need to watch that you get a late one with a Deere engine, and you will have to supply the tractor only diesel engine parts, the gas engine stuff will not work. Others that have done this swap tell me the 404 diesel is a bolt in,while the 466 is longer and needs hood and frame extension to work. The same guys said the extra work to fit a 466 was not worth it,as the engine overpowered the 4020.
