I have seen 3 batteries where they were internally shorted. They were hot. Real hot. I put on glasses and took them out of the vehicles and let it sit in the middle of now where. It would not cool down. One was my fathers and one was my brothers and one was my sister in laws. I took the batteries out for them and told them to be carefull and get rid of them. To think about it now I think a internal shorted battery would explode if it got the internal resistance down low enough.
